The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) utilizes a preferred drug list (PDL) and Supplemental Rebate Program as part of the state's effort to control costs and provide clinically sound drug therapy for Nebraska Medicaid fee-for service (FFS) recipients. DHHS contracts with Magellan Medicaid Administration, Inc. (MMA) to provide support for PDL management and supplemental rebate contracting services.
Provider Synergies, LLC., a subsidiary of MMA, provides expert clinical staffing to work with DHHS and the Nebraska Pharmaceutical and Therapeutics Committee (P&T) to expand the selection of PDL preferred medications based on a review of the relative clinical effectiveness and cost of products within selected therapeutic classes. The intent of the PDL is to achieve quality pharmaceutical care for recipients while controlling cost for the state.
In addition, Provider Synergies works closely with drug manufacturers to negotiate supplemental drug rebates for all participants in The Optimal PDL $olution (TOP$) program, a multi-state Medicaid pharmaceutical purchasing pool administered by Provider Synergies.
